Hong Yun – Rare Winter Flush
Price range: €12.00 through €102.00
Hong Yun is a unique Taiwanese black tea, a cross between the Assam and the Keemun varieties, celebrated for its outstanding taste and refined character.
This Winter Flush edition is picked in late October, as the cool air of early winter slows the growth of the Hong Yun leaves. these late-season buds are scarce and cherished for their clarity and natural sweetness. The slower maturation under gentle sunlight creates a liquor that is smooth, pure, and softly aromatic.
It combines the bold strength of Assam with the floral sweetness of Keemun, resulting in a cup that feels both rich and elegant. The aroma carries notes of flowers and ripe fruit, while the liquor flows gently across the palate, leaving behind a soft, honey-like warmth.
I’m not someone who particularly enjoys eating honey, yet I love the way this tea reveals a natural sweetness that lingers long after each sip — rounded, comforting, and serene. Among all the teas I drink in winter, this one remains one of my personal favorites.
